Fernco Enlists Services of CU*Answers for Upcoming Project

CU*Answers, the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based cooperative CUSO, has been selected by Fernco, Inc., a Davison, Michigan-based manufacturer, to lead a major data migration project for their core manufacturing data processing solution. As a certified business partner of the IBM Corporation, CU*Answers has been providing IBM hardware, software and technical support services for Fernco for nearly a decade. The upcoming project involves migrating Fernco’s core data processing applications to the latest IBM POWER8™ for both its primary production server and its redundant server.

CUSO vice president Scott Collins said: “Our technical team has been working closely with Fernco for quite some time, and this latest project will be one of the most challenging we have undertaken together. Even though we are in different industries, our companies both leverage IBM’s POWER servers as the foundation of our core data processing solutions. While we executed a similar project for our own production and backup servers several months ago, this project will involve a manufacturing core with a significant number of third-party applications that will require Fernco’s expertise and assistance.”

Collins continued, “The experience we have gained executing migration projects for our self-processing credit unions, not to mention several within our own data centers, will certainly be leveraged by both teams as this project plays out.”

CU*Answers expects the project to kick off in early- to mid-December.
