CU*Answers Supports Petition for New Job Description for Regulators

The 100% credit union-owned cooperative CUSO, CU*Answers, announced that it is in full support of the White House Petition filed this week by industry leaders. The petition posted over the weekend by Co-Ops for Change is a grassroots effort to generate some conversation and awareness about the application of Cooperative Principles in the NCUA leadership.

Since the President will make three appointments to the NCUA Board during his last term the group wants to impress on him that they believe NCUA Board Members should be well informed and carry the banner for the Cooperative Principles. If the Petition can draw 100,000 signatures before March 26th, they will receive an official response from the White House.

CU*Answers jumped on the bandwagon and has dedicated a website (http://cuanswers.com/c4c/) loaded with information, tools, and templates to help their clients reach out to their staff and their members asking them to carry this message to the President by signing the Petition. They have even offered to send e-messages to the members of client credit unions for free.

CU*Answers CEO, Randy Karnes, stated “Supporting the agenda in the petition is a no brainer. Why would anyone vested in the credit union business not want the President to respond to our hopes to improve the NCUA?  Everyone should want every administration to take the credit union industry and the NCUA seriously enough to explain their approach and garner our support.”
