Credit Unions Ready for ATM/Debit Encryption

CU*Answers, a 100% credit union cooperative CUSO, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, recently announced the completion of a project successfully migrating all of its online credit unions using CO-OP and other split platforms from traditional ATM/debit technology to more secure encryption.

Announced in June, with EFT generating a mounting majority of daily member transactions, plastics information has become an even larger hotbed for potential intrusion. Globally, Visa and MasterCard have taken steps towards increased data protection with the introduction of EMV technology and companies such as Google and Apple have demanded new ways to keep member data secure, while still being easy to access.

With the majority of work completed during low volume transactional periods, members and vendors experienced very little downtime. More importantly, the changes mean credit unions can better protect their members, eliminate fraud and expand their own security policies.
