CU*Answers Releases a Configurable ANR Fee Cap Functionality

In its newest release of core product CU*BASE®, CU*Answers is giving its credit unions the ability to set a fee cap for automated non-returns (Courtesy Pay). CU*Answers recognizes Courtesy Pay fees can be an important source of income for a credit union, however, increased occurrences of member overdrafts, as well as increased scrutiny from consumer groups and legislators have put the spotlight on these and other types of fees causing financial institutions to search for the right balance.

With this enhancement CU*Answers is providing an opportunity to respond to member concerns while also protecting credit unions’ important source of income. This enhancement gives the credit union the ability to set daily (business day) maximums for the amount of ANR fees that a member could potentially be assessed. The fee cap configurations apply to ANR fees only and include check postings, in-house drafts, ACH, ATM/debit online transactions, and bill pay transactions. Fees waived via the cap can by analyzed with the existing Fee Income/Waiver/Refunds dashboard so that the credit union can review what they are losing with this new configuration ability.
