Earnings Edge, the solutions and earnings division of the cooperative CUSO CU*Answers, announced it has published a case study in cooperation with $30 million Element Federal Credit Union (Charleston, WV) detailing the use of CU*BASE® in creating charitable programs. In particular, the case study focuses on Element’s SwipeIt for Good campaign, and how they used the data processing platform to implement and track the program.
The program has two primary goals: get credit union members excited about supporting their favorite charities and to engage local charities to work with Element towards their mutual benefit. Every time a member uses their debit card online or at a retailer, the credit union gives $0.05 per swipe to a local charity at no expense to the member. Using CU*BASE, the credit union is able to easily track participating individuals and determine how many transactions there were monthly.
Per Linda Bodie, Element FCU CEO and CU*Answers Board Member, the program has been successful in getting both members and charities interested, spreading word about the credit union in the community, and benefiting good causes.
Geoff Johnson, CU*Answers COO said, “This is yet another way that we walk the talk as a cooperative. Earnings Edge created this solution with Linda Bodie and her team at Element, and now we think other credit unions can learn from this case study and implement their own programs.”
