CU*Answers Gears Up for EMV Technology

CU*Answers, a data processor to nearly 200 credit unions nationwide, is currently preparing for the arrival of EMV technology, which will soon become a new US standard for card processing. Widely used in Europe and other parts of the world, and gaining widespread use in the US in October 2015, EMV is a microchip-based fraud protection technology for payment cards. EMV, which stands for Europay, MasterCard, and Visa—the three companies that developed the technology—is part of a global initiative to combat fraud and protect sensitive card data, and has proven to reduce fraud losses from card-present transactions. To help its clients prepare for this upcoming technology, CU*Answers is publishing newsletters answering frequently asked questions about EMV and keeping clients up to date on the latest news surrounding the change.
