CU*Answers, the 100% credit union-owned, data processing CUSO, recently completed the quarterly statistics for CU*BASE Alerts sent out between July 1st and September 30th, 2022. In total, CU*Answers posted 50 alert items, which marks the lowest Alert volume for a single quarter period since the Writing Team began tracking this data in 2015.
Furthermore, August 2022 saw the single lowest volume in alert activity in recent years, with only 10 alerts posted on behalf of CU*Answers. Comparatively, August of 2020 and 2021 each saw 21 alerts delivered, more than double the volume witnessed in 2022.
Measuring data over recent years, Q3 2022 saw 81% of the volume witnessed during the same period in 2021 and 79% of the volume witnessed in Q3 2020. The heaviest alert activity for Q3 in recent history occurred in 2015, with 84 total alerts delivered. Q3 of 2022 saw 59% of this, nearly cutting the volume in half since that time.
This continues a general downward trend in alert activity which began in Q1 2020. In the ten quarterly periods that have followed, only three quarters have exhibited an increase in alert activity; all others have remained consistent quarter-over-quarter or have seen a decrease in alert volume from the previous quarter. This pattern would seem to indicate that a greater focus on proactive responses and regularly scheduled maintenance periods have been offsetting the number of unexpected issues and/or connectivity interruptions within the network.
