eDOC Innovations returned to HOPE (Helping Overcome Poverty’s Effects) for the second time this year to process locally donated produce and help improve the lives of low income people in their community. eDOC staff peeled and chopped 50 pounds of apples and 120 pounds of squash that will be frozen and distributed during the winter months.
“Concern for our community is one of the core principles of our cooperative business,” explained Jody Ciano, AVP of market communication for eDOC Innovations. “Donning aprons and hairnets, we take instructions from our leader, HOPE’s coordinator Lily, and work together on the overall goal. From this face to face time together, we build team unity and learn new things about our colleagues, such as: Jake McMahon, our new manager of market engagement, sings in a choir; and the newest addition to our client support team, Mike Hansen, is no stranger in the kitchen. It’s pure, honest, good work for a pure and honest good cause. A feeling of satisfaction is always expressed by our volunteer staff after such an event. I was truly excited to head back to HOPE again.”
eDOC Innovations is a CUSO committed to following the cooperative principles of the cooperatives, and engages their employees in monthly activities, planned and executed by staff, as part of their team building efforts.
