CU*NorthWest, a cooperative CUSO and core data processor, is now offering My Virtual StrongBox to its client credit unions which can be connected directly to their It’s Me 247 online banking product. Functioning as an electronic safe deposit box, members can store electronic copies of their personal documents (e.g., wills, trusts, tax information, mortgage documents, etc.). Members will have access to their strongbox through single sign-on (SSO) without having to leave the online banking portal.

CU*NorthWest is offering the My Virtual StrongBox SSO connection capability to all clients for free. Credit unions and members will have the ability to share documents with each other using the secure link feature. Clients will only need to begin a relationship with Virtual StrongBox; from there, CU*NorthWest simply turns it on for the client. Cost of development is little to nothing, meaning credit unions will be able to pass on additional savings to members. CU*NorthWest believes providing third-party SSO options for clients will help keep them competitive in a fast-paced marketplace, allowing credit unions to devote attention and resources to providing members with more products and services. Credit unions will also be able to purchase a premium package which includes benefits such as additional storage, logo branding, and even a rewards program to grant users more space to save their documents. Members may also choose to buy more space individually.
