CU*Answers sponsored the 9th hole at the U.P. Annual Golf Outing in Gladstone, MI. Like most Golf Outings, this one raises money for a great cause: Honor Flight Network, which is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. They transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. so they can visit and reflect at their memorials, and it’s completely free (airfare, meals, deluxe tour bus, t-shirt and other items are provided at no cost to the veteran).
Somehow, like many golf outings, certain traditions are created. One of those new traditions is on the 9th Hole, where CU*Answers has sponsored the hole, giving away a $100 Gift Card to the person who sinks the longest putt. But there is a twist: the person has to sing a song while putting (not to mention possibly getting sprayed with a squirt-gun).
The last couple of years, we’ve heard many unique versions of “Happy Birthday” and “God Bless America”…but occasionally the golfers get more creative with “Hit The Road Jack” and “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head.” This year, the 2021 Winner was Marcia, who was with a foursome from Settlers FCU, and she calmly sank a 22-footer while belting out “Celebration” by Kool and the Gang. Battling the rain and wind didn’t phase her one bit. In all, a total of 82 golfers participated in the event.
