CU*Answers, in partnership with eDOC Innovations recently issued an FAQ-style document outlining Best Practices for Eliminating Paper.
Within this document, questions surrounding retention of original documents, legally binding electronic documents, compliance with ESIGN and the use of ProDOC software are covered.
While a solid set of Best Practice recommendations are made, the document closes by insisting that careful due diligence is performed, “Ultimately the sole responsibility for a paperless process rests squarely with the Credit Union. They are responsible for the content of their documents and disclosures and the process and technology they adopt.”
