CU*Answers helps Ripco Credit Union plan for technology upgrade

CU*Answers, the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based cooperative CUSO, has been working with Rhinelander, Wisconsin-based Ripco Credit Union to prepare for a technology upgrade for their high availability server, with an anticipated project completion and final rollover in early January. The credit union will be deploying a new IBM POWER9 server to act as a backup for their Rhinelander-based production server running the CU*BASE® core data processing system.

Commenting on the project, Scott Collins, EVP of National Sales and Marketplace Relationships for CU*Answers said: “For over a decade, our partners at Ripco have been investing in the tools and best practices that ensure their members’ data is protected and available. This latest investment in a new IBM POWER9 server will help build on their solid business continuity foundation. This comes hot off the heels of a similar project completed for our own SaaS environment during the fall, and in conjunction with a project we are executing for one of Ripco’s peer credit unions.”

Collins also noted, “Ripco utilizes our sister CUSO, Site-Four in Yankton, South Dakota, as its high availability data center. The team at Site-Four will be working with both the CU*Answers and Ripco technical teams to transition from the current backup environment, and we expect a successful cut-over shortly after the first of the year.”

Following the project completion, the CUSO team will be working with the credit union to schedule its next production rollover test.
