CU*Answers helps Cumberland County FCU deploy new IBM core servers

In a collaborative project, CU*Answers, Inc., the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based cooperative CUSO, worked closely with technicians from Falmouth, Maine-based Cumberland County Federal Credit Union and Yankton, South Dakota-based data center CUSO Site-Four, to complete the installation of new IBM POWER9 core servers to run the credit union’s core operations. The production server was deployed at in the credit union’s Falmouth data center, with the redundant high-availability backup server installed at Site-Four.

Scott Collins, EVP of National Sales and Marketplace Relationships for CU*Answers said: “Bringing in new technology to replace a credit union’s core infrastructure is never an easy project, but once again the teams from Cumberland, Site-Four and our cooperative did an excellent job from start to finish. Like with their last server pair, we expect that this new investment in IBM systems will serve the credit union for many years to come. All the teams are looking forward to Cumberland County’s next production rollover exercise to test their BR/DR readiness again later this year.”

Collins also noted that the server project was executed in a non-disruptive manner for the credit union operations. “We had a defined timeline to execute the final cutover, and the team was able to meet that goal. My hat is off to all of those involved with the project.”
