AuditLink, the audit and compliance division of CU*Answers, hosted their Conversations on Compliance event in Columbus, Ohio in September. About a dozen credit unions from the surrounding central Ohio area attended the event, converging on Pathways Financial Credit Union which provided the venue and was a most accommodating host.
Aptly named, the approach to these events is conversational in nature. Jim Vilker, AuditLink Leader and VP of Professional Services, sparked engagement during his presentations on BSA risk assessment methodology, the importance of internal control fundamentals and compliance related CU*BASE releases and tools. A live demonstration of under-utilized and/or unknown tools has been incorporated into this jam-packed day of compliance discussion. Based on prior feedback from attendees, the demos provide immediate value for practical application upon returning to their credit unions. Jim Dransfield, Compliance Officer at Bay Area Credit Union shared, “As always, I am concerned about having a day away from the credit union but after I left your meeting, I know I did the right thing by coming to listen to you. Thank you for the knowledge and experience you both share on compliance!” He also left the hashtag #BIGFAN.
Jim Vilker stated, “The opportunity to get out on the road and interact with credit unions face-to-face is one of the most important aspects of this event. We are continually looking for opportunities to do so”
