Business Continuity Program Pays Off for Texas CU

On January 13, 2015, Harris County FCU of Harris County, Texas announced its business recovery and continuity partnership with Site-Four of Yankton, SD. Their planning paid off as hurricane Harvey hit Texas. On Monday, August 28, the credit union moved their operations from Texas to the Site-Four facility in South Dakota. A community support effort had the CU running from their high availability location Monday morning.

Said Jeffrey Miller, the OpsEngine Business Development Manager at CU*Answers: “This was an outstanding example of the credit union collaborative network in action. Site-Four was ready on demand when the credit union made the call to role-swap their operation. CU*Answers Network Services handled communications, the OpsEngine team addressed system support, the Xtend team provided call support—it’s a perfect example of what the credit union movement is all about.”

The credit union remained active on their Site-Four fallback site until Wednesday night, September 6. During that time, the CU posted updates for members on their website and had emergency FAQs published for reference. On the night of the 6th, they cut their operations back over to their Houston, Texas facility.
