“Business Continuity Planning” Instructional Webinar Provided

On October 7, 2014, CU*Answers, a 100% credit union-owned CUSO, presented a 60 minute web-based Online University course for credit unions on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery principles. The content presented focused on a phased approach to developing and implementing continuity and recovery strategies to manage and monitor operational risk.

“The amount of effort invested on the front-end to design and implement the appropriate strategies for each unique credit union environment is (eventually) revealed in the success or failure to adequately mitigate the negative effects of the next disruption and facilitate the timely recovery of critical business functions,” states Jim Lawrence, CBCP, Manager of Disaster Recovery and Business Resumption Services at CU*Answers. “While there are many similarities in operations between credit unions, there is no ‘one-strategy-fits-all’ solution.  Discovering your unique DNA, the interdependencies between departments and vendors that are instrumental in delivering the products and services your members expect, gives you the accurate information you need to build your plan.”

As part of their commitment to their network of 200+ credit union clients, CU*Answers, a cooperative CUSO, provides professional continuity consulting services in addition to educational courses (classroom and web-based) on topics relevant to the needs and current events of the industry. Included in the series of courses offered on the topic of Information Security, interest in Business Continuity and Operational Resilience continues to grow.
