CU*Answers leads technology upgrade project for Prospera Credit Union

CU*Answers, the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based core data processing CUSO, recently began a project to help Appleton, Wisconsin-based Prospera Credit Union deploy new production and high availability backup servers that power its in-house CU*BASE® core data processing system. During the project, CU*Answers and Prospera technical teams will perform a migration of the core system to a new IBM POWER8 server located in the credit union’s Appleton data center, as well its accompanying POWER8 backup server located in the CUSO’s West Michigan data center.

CU*Answers Executive VP Scott Collins noted: “Since Prospera has been one of our in-house customer-owners for many years, this is the kind of project that both teams have done before, and one that can be done with virtually no down-time.” Collins commended the credit union for including a three- to four-year technology upgrade path as part of their strategic technology plan, allowing them to leverage newer, faster, more reliable, and less expensive IBM systems as they are released to the marketplace. By leveraging the credit union’s investment in business resiliency, the CU*Answers team is able to execute the project in a non-disruptive manner. The project is slated for completion in early February.
