With the 11.0 CU*BASE Release, CU*Answers has made it easier for credit unions to make overdraft services and related fee policies more clear to their members. A new secondary transaction description in Account History appears in CU*BASE and It’s Me 247 online banking which clearly specifies what the members’ available balance was before NSF or NR processing on Share Draft, ACH or ATM/Debit transactions.
According to the 100% credit union owned –CUSO and provider of CU*BASE data processing, the new secondary transaction description includes the available balance before the transaction was processed and a description of the type of transaction, i.e. ‘AVAIL BAL was $523.45 BEFORE ACH TRANS.” This secondary transaction description appears on the fee (for a transaction using ANR funds or for an ATM/Debit NSF fee) or the reversal (for all other NSF items, since a fee is not always changed for all NSF items).
CU*Answers says that it hopes this assists credit unions in their research and reduces the amount of time needed to assist members when calling for clarification. Additional information may be found via CU*BASE GOLD Online Help.
